Nat-Soo-Pah

School is out and we're ready for our first summer adventure. Nat-Soo-Pah. Just the name sends memories racing through my mind. For you history buffs out there:

Nat-Soo-Pah is an Indian name meaning “Magic Mineral Water.” About a hundred years ago the Shoshone Indians lived in the nearby foothills and used this spring for baths. Some of the earlier settlers built bath houses for men and women, and in approximately 1926 the pool was built.

It is located just south of Twin Falls, Idaho. Each summer during our month long stay with my grandparents, they would take me and my cousins to this lovely place! I looked forward to it every year and my memories are endless.

When Josh and Kendall decided to take a camping trip together to my beloved nat-soo-pah, my heart sang!

It did not disappoint. Not much had changed in all these years. The pool was just the same. The pool house/snack shack thingy looked untouched! The camping was a new experience as we always just made day trips of it when I was a child. And although they pack the RV park full and tight, it was an amazingly good time. Mom and DAvid also joined us for the fun. They camped in style in the trailer. Although our new tent is quite lovely and spacious.

Grandma found a wet suit/floaty thing for Coleman and it was perfect. He has no fear and has been known to just leap into water, sometimes before I am ready. The suit calmed my fear and allowed him to experience water the way he really wants to.

The pool is a perfect temperature which allows for enjoyable swimming despite our not yet summer air temps. I think my favorite part was simply seeing the joy on all the kids' faces.

Annika and Justin have some fun in the giant inner-tube while Davis tags along for the ride...

Here we have Mitchel performing the tooth-pick.

Ashley is my most timid child when it comes to water. In fact, she panics when water gets in her face. I don't know how I'll ever get her to swim. She loves to be in the pool. She just bounces around in the shallow, making up games. But if water gets in her face, she totally freaks out. really. she becomes full of panic. Somehow she still loves it and likes to be in the pool. Especially with Annika. Her cousin and her best friend as she tells me often.

Grant getting some Grandma cuddles.

This swimming stuff is exhausting.

No kid can go camping without having smores. Kendall did not disappoint them.

It was fun for the big kids too.

I'm pretty sure this post could go on forever. So, let me sum it up.

1. Coleman LOVED the diving board. He asked constatnly do go to the "dibing board". Watching his little self jump off like that was seriously joyful.

2. I am seriously out of shape. Treading water in the deep while retrieving Coleman and sending him to the edge shouldn't have made me that worn out!

3. Mtichel and Justin went off the high dive. Found it so much fun they began doing tricks off it - cannonballs, twists, etc.

4. Jacob just ran off the diving board and did a front flip. He stunned us.

5. I loved our new tent. Everyone slept great.

6. This trip was the perfect way to kick off summer.

And just in case you haven't gotten enough check out our family site.
