asleep in the dark.

For the past 3 months or so, Coleman has had to go to bed with the overhead light on. Let me rephrase, he must sleep all night with the overhead light on. From the time he was a baby he slept in the dark with the door closed. However, a few months ago this sent him into a panic. No big deal I figured, we'll just leave the light on and the door open and when he is asleep I will turn the light off. This did not go as planned. He would wake up in the night and turn it back on or cry. So, I just decided to let him leave it on all night. No serious harm. I figured he would eventually grow out of it. After the first month passed I paused for a brief moment and wondered how long he'd continue, but didn't have the energy to try to do anything different, and honestly really didn't care. I just figured it wasn't that big of a deal. And then, out of the blue 3 nights ago, when I tucked him in he looked at me and said "Turn my light off mama". I said you want your light off? he said yes. I thought for sure he would turn it back on, but he didn't. For 3 nights now, Coleman is sleeping in the dark. Door still open, but light off. I guess his little phase is over. He is growing up on me. And he didn't even ask permission.

That's an awesome accomplishment that he did all on his own!

(and I'm one of those kids that liked to sleep with the light on! Luckily I outgrew it, too :) )
